Each summer, Bill Sr. (owner of Guyette Roofing) leads a team of volunteers to other parts of the world to assist local missionaries with construction projects. 

    This year the team traveled to the Amazon Region of Ecuador to build a phase of a 2-story addition to the “Hope House”, a home for orphaned and abandoned girls ages 8-18, rescued from human trafficking. Materials such as steel, concrete, and forms are purchased through fundraisers and donations from Montgomery’s  First Assembly of God Church. The team brings their own tools and pays their own expenses. 
     Because of termites, the preferred construction material in the jungle is mixed in-place/poured in-place reinforced concrete. Equipment is limited, so much manual labor is needed. After the necessary framework was built, it took 3600 buckets of concrete, all hand-carried up scaffolds to the second level, to pour on to the roof. With an average annual rainfall of 23 FEET, you better get the roof right! It rained 3 inches the night we finished the roof, and no leaks!
      In past years we’ve done similar work in South Africa, Canary Islands (Spain), Guatemala, Panama, and Vienna (Austria).
